Customer Rating: Summary: The Best "Batman" Behind "Batman Forever" And "Batman Begins." Story Takes Precedence Over Comic-Book Schtick. Comment: In the original "Batman" & "Batman Returns," the storylines (or what shreds there were) were overwhelmed by the comic-book schtick left over from the wonderful 1960's "Batman" series. The schtick was fine for the series, but for the films...AUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. GOOD GRIEF! In "Batman Forever," Akiva Goldsman took over the screenwriting duties and the schtick was eliminated, giving way to a firmly grounded storyline. The same with its excellent follow-up "Batman & Robin" (which I fail to see why it performed badly at the box office). Sadly, the franchise went into hibernation after this great film. There was only one thing missing (for which I would've given it 4/1/2 stars, but I decided on giving it the full 5, since this site doesn't allow reviewers to give half-star ratings) and that was romance between Dick & Barbara. The acting, storyline and visual effects were top-notch. Rated PG for some stylized action and mild innuendo.
Customer Rating: Summary: Yeah, yeah... NIPPLES! Comment: Yeah, the costume has nipples, and Mr. Freeze and Poision Ivy make bad puns, and the acting is horrible, do yourself a favor and destroy every single copy.
Customer Rating: Summary: MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL...WHAT'S THE WORST BATMAN FLICK OF ALL?..... Comment: I took one for the team today and sat through 'Batman & Robin'! There is no sense throwing any big words around..this movie SUX! I give this a 1 1/2 star rating because of the way too good for this film 2 disc DVD edition.
This film is so bad, I don't know where to begin. Lets start with the opening credits which features gratuitous quick cuts of Batman and Robin's nipples, crotches and butts! Then we have some of the worst acting in movie history, George Clooney, Alicia Silverstone and Chris O'Donnell are just plain dreadful! You know your in trouble when Elle MacPherson gives one of the better performances in the movie!
The film is way too long for this kind of nonsense and the story is so scattered, that it's more like a barrage of random thoughts thrown at you rapid fire with a subliminal message "BUY TOYS, BUY TOYS!" This movie makes the TV show seem serious, but at least the show was fun to watch and......funny!
In this forth and thankfully last installment, the jokes are corny and the entire film is just.... I want to say retarded, but that would be an insult to the mentally challenged! Of Course when Alicia Silverstone becomes Batgirl, she gets some gratuitous quick cuts of her Breasts, crotch and butt!,....funny, I didn't seem to mind is so much when it was her! ;-b
The good points of the film and 2 disc DVD release are few, but here they are....
1)Good casting of Arnold as Mr. Freeze ditto Uma as Poison Ivy. It's not their fault the movie SUX!
2)It does capture in a strange way the feel of the comic book in the 60's
3)Some cools sets and FX!
4)The 2 disc DVD has a great transfer, interesting if short special features.
I totally get what they were trying to do with this movie and they failed miserably!
YEA! Now I get to watch Batman Begins again! :-D
Customer Rating: Summary: Good campy action movie! Comment: I am shocked to read over all the very negative reviews for Batman and Robin.
I think people should watch the movie again and judge then.
This movie has plenty of colorful action and good art direction. This movie doesn't take itself seriously nor is it as dark as Batman returns which is different but good. It has corny one-liners and silly moments that many people probably dislike; however, I enjoyed the silliness very much, the humor prevented the movie from becoming dull and tedious.
George Clooney isn't the best batman. Alicia's character as batgirl is practically useless; however, all the other characters in the movie are fantastic. Arnold as Mr. Freeze is both comical and entertaining. His costume is fantastic.
Give this movie another chance. It is at least entertaining and very well filmed.
Customer Rating: Summary: Seriously??!!! Comment: Honestly, how did this one get into theaters? My GOD, Arnold Schwarzenegger is atrocious here, and the acting is pretty corny/cheesy/horrible throughout. It's overdone - it's like the actors knew what a bad job they were doing and parodied themselves.
The latest editions of Batman (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) do a lot to rectify this movie, bringing a seriousness and a validity to the story and the developments that this film utterly lacks. Thank everything for Christian Bale and our dearly-missed Heath Ledger!
George Clooney must still be cringing over this one, and it's no wonder Ah-nold went into politics...

Following Val Kilmer's portrayal of the caped crusader in Batman Forever, the fourth Batman feature stars George Clooney under the pointy-eared cowl, with Chris O'Donnell returning as Robin the Boy Wonder. This time the dynamic duo is up against the nefarious Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who is bent on turning the world into an iceberg, and the slyly seductive but highly toxic Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), who wants to eliminate all animal life and turn the Earth into a gigantic greenhouse. Alicia Silverstone lends a hand as Batgirl, and Elle McPherson plays the thankless role of Batman/Bruce Wayne's fiancée. A sensory assault of dazzling colors, senseless action, and lavish sets run amok, this Batman & Robin offers an overdose of eye candy, but it is strictly for devoted Bat-o-philes. --Jeff Shannon
