Summary: Great fun enjoyable read!
Comment: I'm straight and I loved this book. Terrific read and really well written. I usually hate books written in first person, but it didn't bother me one bit and it actually added to my enjoyment. This book is written from point of view of the wonderful main character, Caid. K E Lane's writing has a great conversational, casual style loaded with great details & nuances. She creates well drawn, multi-layered, real, and funny main characters and does the same for all the secondary characters. You know every character in the book very well and know exactly how and why they tick. Also, having worked in the film biz myself for many years, the setting only added to the fun for me.

As you've likely gathered from other reviews, Caid is an actress on a popular TV show called "9th Precinct". Caid has recently come to terms with the fact she's attracted to women. She's never acted on these feeling, spoken them aloud to anyone, and has always previously dated men, although without much enthusiasm. However, she has a massive crush on her sometimes Co-star Robyn who works on another show (think "Law & Order" & "Law and Order special victims unit")and sometimes guest stars on hers. When she does, they share a trailer. Caid is tongue tied by the mere presence of Robyn, who is a bigger star. Robyn is also very publically dating a famous tennis player and appears very straight. As the story begins the women have a scene together where Caid's TV character has to get angry & physical with Robyn's character. Caid, being too affected by Robyn, is doing poorly in the scene treating Robyn with kid gloves. After being cussed out by the director, she finally lets all her sexual frustrations fly and nails the scene which although non-sexual has a subtext of sexual tension (and later leads the writers of the show to expound on it - which is another great scene in the book). The scene also creates palpable sparks between Caid and Robyn and they begin a friendship that becomes very confusing for Caid as Robyn is a master of mixed signals, and neither is sure of the other's sexuality.

All I can say it's a really fun ride. Josh, Robyn's tennis star boyfriend is great and Caid's relationship with Liz, Caid's diva co-star is a downright hoot - like Liz's horror and later fascination after being asked by a fan at a press junket what she thinks of the lesbian fan fiction websites hooking up certain characters on her TV show. Hilarious. Every character down to Caid's agent is well drawn and you get a good picture of who they all are. The novel also touches on the decision to hide your sexuality in a world where you're a popular leading actress. But really the romance is the focus and the best part of the book. Just completely enjoyable. I could read this book over and over. Highly recommended.

Summary: First-Rate Lesbian Romance
Comment: I found this an absorbing, entertaining, very well executed lesbian romance. K.E. Lane is a skilled, thoughtful writer who generates here that most delicious of recreational reading pleasures: an erotic novel whose characters are drawn with care and whose attraction to one another is utterly convincing. The author did her homework and took her time to generate a plausible context for this relationship; I believed in these actors' lives, and I learned something--about television production, about the peculiar loneliness of celebrity and the self-doubt that co-exists with a certain kind of public excellence. . . and about the difficult dance of courtship between two intelligent, passionate women. These are, needless to say, extravagantly privileged people, but there's fantasy for ya!

Summary: Excellent Read
Comment: I just finished this book, I didn't know anything about the author just picked it up because of recommendations - I wished I had picked it up a lot sooner.....what a great story!!! I have enjoyed authors such as Hill, Radclyffe, Vali, Meyer, and now I have found a new author to look forward to. I loved how this was written, with Caid 'speaking' most of the time. The story line was great, though Caid certainly had some very tough times; it only made the characters richer. I look forward to more from this author and I hope soon!
