Customer Rating: Summary: Convenient and accurate Comment: I first tested the product with boiling water, then cold to determine how accurate. No problem there, accurate to the degree and when used was very easy to read and program.
Customer Rating: Summary: Out of Box Failure Comment: Alarm for timer and temperature failed to function right out of the box. I called the importer (Maverick) and they wanted me to mail everything back to them at my cost for an evaluation. I'm just going to count this buying decision as a total loss because I don't want to gamble the additional shipping cost on another out of box failure.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Really Well for Smokers Comment: This dual probe is very nice and works well.
I like to max out what I put in the smoker, which often means cooking different meats and poultry. Having the two probes makes the whole operation a no-brainer. Operating this unit does require a slight learning curve. For instance, you have to turn on the probe FIRST, or the base will not connect with it. Not a big deal, but does require a cursory glance at the directions.
This unit is much better suited for slow cooking meats in your smoker. If you're looking for a grilling thermometer (burgers, steaks, chicken breasts, etc.) - keep it simple and go with a really high quality instant read model.
Customer Rating: Summary: You get what you pay for? Comment: I purchased this thermometer as a replacement for another one we had that broke. This one is worse than the last one. The remote sensor never did work and now that we've had it for a couple years, it won't give an accurate temperature. Tonight, I checked the temperature of a pork tenderloin that had been in the oven for more than the recommended amount of time (45 minutes for a 2 lb. tenderloin) and the temperature went from 140 to 103 to 123 to 149 to 119. In a matter of 10 seconds. Then the fun started, it started blinking L L L - I have no idea what it means, but it's been doing that for the past year or so.
I'm just not impressed. I'm actually on Amazon looking for a better thermometer that will last us more than 18 months.
Customer Rating: Summary: Dual probe wireless thermometer Comment: Just used breifly, but the only issue I had was that there was a 1 degree difference between the two temp probes.

This is the ONLY remote meat / barbecue thermometer that can monitor 2 types of meat or 2 doneness levels (i.e. rare, medium, well done, etc.). Just insert one or both probes into your favorite cuts of meat and select how want them cooked. When the meat is cooked exactly to your liking, the receiver will let you know by beeping. Both the receiver and the transmitter (which is attached to the probes) display the progressive meat temperature in 5-second intervals on their easy-to-read LCD screens. The receiver also displays a clock and timer. Suitable for outdoor barbecue or indoor oven use, this dual-probe wireless barbecue thermometer system makes the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys cooking! Use it to get perfectly cooked beef, chicken, fish, pork, lamb or any other common grill meats. Uses 2 AAA and 2 AA batteries (not included).
