Customer Rating: Summary: CALL OF DUTY 2 Comment: I tried to convert this from xbox format to xbox 360 format. Only problem is that the controllers are different. Therefore you are severely handicapped at this fast paced shooter game. I like the game, just wish it was set up better for xbox 360.
Customer Rating: Summary: Greatest WWII game I have ever played Comment: This game is awsome. The game has all of the qualities that a gamer can look foward to in a WWII game. There are a lot of weapons to choose from along with great graphics, and many maps. You can actually depend on your teamates in this game. O.K., I admit that they are not the best distance shooters, but they are very good at close combat. For example, there was a time when an American soldier meleed a German to the ground and the American just kept on shooting the German to make sure that he was dead. Your teamates don't die easy and there are some characters that just can't die because they are part of the storyline. Aside from the guns, the grenades are very effective when the Germans are hiding in small corners and you just can't see them. Just pull out the grenade and it will do the rest for you. Well, thats about it. I hope my review came in handy. Remember to buy this game if you don't have it already. You will get more out of the game than what you paid for. I guarantee it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bite sized but good fun. Comment: Some reviews have knocked how "easy" this game is and it's brevity. Honestly, I play games for fun and entertainment, not to be overly challenged to the point of frustration. (Real life is frustrating enough, I want games that are fun to play!) If you are looking for a great WWII game that is done well but is done in such as way as to be managable to play, COD 2 is for you. I have the "collectors edition" which comes in a silver case and includes interviews from the real men who served in the Big Red 1 division, etc,....very cool. Highlights include: the sound quality, the sheer variety of missions and weapons used (anti-aircraft guns, panzerschreck, .50 cal, etc., playing with distinct squad-mates who have unique personalities, realistic and relevant intersquad "chatter". I have and enjoy Brothers in Arms but it involves a bit more strategy and planning to do well so I save it for when I have longer stretches of free time to play. If you want more of a run and gun type WWII game that you can pick up and play a mission through from start to finish in about 15 minutes, this is a good game for you. I am a fan of the Medal of Honor series but I think this beats it in the graphics, sound and realism departments easily. As for "replayability"...I anticipate running through the levels again on a higher difficulty level once I finish the game on "easy".
Customer Rating: Summary: Lack of ingame saves kill all the fun Comment: Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, but the lack of ability to save the game midway just kills the game completely. Its as if all XBOX games are crippled with this problem (Tom Clancy Splinter Cell is another example). Instead of being able to move forward, you end up playing the same level over and over again. Its just too fustrating.
Here's how it works, every time you die in the game you start all over from the last check point. This system works fine for games like Halo since the checkpoints are very frequent. However for COD, the checkpoints are very far from each other.
Also, you cannot save the game in mid-level and switch off your XBOX. In this case, the game will not start from the last checkpoint, instead it will start from the start of the level itself. So, its almost compulsory that you end the level before you switch off the console.
I know this does not sound like a big deal, but trust me, as you go through the game the checkpoints are spaced further apart just to increase the level of difficulty and its just gets plain annoying more than anythign else.
Other than this problem, the game is pretty good.
Customer Rating: Summary: Exceptional Comment: I'm relatively new to the XBox, and found this to be an amazing experience. In a way, it's a game merged with a history lesson. The more I played it, the more respect gained for those who fought the actual battles. Approaching the beach in the landing craft gives one a sense (though nowhere near that of the real experience) of what these guys actually charged into...amazing. This game requires strategy, planning and a lot of attention. Amazing environments and realism. Looking forward to #3.
Thank you, 1st Infantry.
