Works immediately - even as we were taking it out of the package and setting it up, moths were attracted to it. just set it up & leave it - nothing further to do. The pheromones quickly permeate the room and in less than a minute, male moths are awake and flying towards their demise. There's no smell and any larve that hatch later will also be attracted to the scent and get stuck on the sticky paper. This is a great product if you're bothered by the moths from birdseed.
