Customer Rating: Summary: Decent dishrack but not worth the hype! Comment: I had been looking all over for a drainboard that would allow me to position my dishrack horizontally on my counter instead of vertically but I was unable to find a board large enough to accomodate the needs of a family of four. I purchased this new system largely because of the glowing reviews even though I really only needed the drainboard and was perfectly happy with my old dishrack. I have finally come to terms with the need to keep a dishrack on my counter (at least until my kids move out!) and this looks fine. I personally feel that it is a lot of money for a dishrack and that the design should be flawless for that price. It isn't. The cup holders only feel secure with some of my glasses--they just don't feel stable with all the different size glasses I wash and there are only four of them that lean over the sink. I am not using them because I fear that my glasses will easily be knocked off and break. I primarily wash my everyday glasses in the dishwasher anyway so this isn't a big deal to me. What is a big deal is that the drainboard leaks. There are three covered holes on the drainboard that allow for the change in direction of the system from horizontally to vertically. Water is dripping out from these covered holes...and I have never even uncovered them...and it is pooling on my granite countertops. The more dishes I wash, the more water that leaks and if I wash a lot of dishes, the water slides from the countertop, down my cabinets and pools on the floor. Not good. This did not start happening until after about two weeks of use so I no longer have the box to return it. This dishrack hasn't exactly changed my life the way it seems to have changed the lives of other reviewers! For me, it was basically a trade off between a nicer looking dishrack that is positioned the way I want it and the added work of mopping up the water it leaks.
Customer Rating: Summary: love this dishrack dryer Comment: Compared to my previous all plastic, mildewy, non-draining dish rack, this is great :). It is pretty sturdy, and each of the individual dish holders really holds the dish firmly in place. My last dish rack never drained and ended up all sorts of funky orangy/green/black shades. I can see this drain immediately after putting something in there!
I also love how it has sturdy cup holders that I can put to the outside so it gives me more space to put larger items in the main area. The knife holder is another big plus, since I used to shove all the knives/utensils into the same holder, it gets a little dangerous sometimes even though I put the knives with the handles up.
I was at first skeptical it would be a good dishrack, but it has been a few months and I haven't had to clean the pan below and it's holding up very well!
Customer Rating: Summary: FINALLY A DISH STRAINER THAT WORKS Comment: After going through numerous dish racks I saw this one on Amazon. It is a little pricey however it is worth it. It comes with a spout that lets the excess water run off into the sink eliminating the mold that most strainers get. It is well worth the money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not worth purchasing Comment: I bought this dish rack believing the positive reviews about it. Well, I discovered it certainly was not worth spending that much. The design of the product is very poor. The dish rack leaks, many items placed in the rack don't dry very well, especially with the knife and silverware holder. The knives don't have enough space around them to dry and the silverware holder is useless, since a puddle of water remains on the bottom all day. I plan to return this item.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wow. Comment: Fantastic. Unpacked it and couldn't stop thinking, "Wow."
Solid, big without being overbearing. Can't really see how well the holder for silverware drains in the picture, but even though it hangs over the edge of the base, the bottom is tilted so it drains over the base and thus to the sink. There are retractable feet like on the bottom of a keyboard, so you can raise up the edge farthest away from the sink to facilitate draining. And the small half circle extension spout makes the water drain far enough away from the whole unit without it having to hang over the edge of the sink itself.
VERY well designed and I can't wait to start using it tonight because I was so fed up with the little piece of junk plastic thing I used to have.
Worth every penny and a few more. No longer do I have to do plates first then silverware (old one if you filled silverware first, would tip the whole unit into the sink).
