Summary: Rome 1st Year
Comment: If you enjoyed Rome on HBO you can see it again and see some of the finer parts that were missed the first time.

Summary: Real enough
Comment: The first season is brilliant. And it needed an HBO to do the topic justice. You need the freedom to depict sex and violence clearly, or theres no point to any of it. The Rome series depicts as much as can be expected in terms of realism; any more graphic, and it might be a turn-off. I dont think anyone really wants to see the kinds of things that actually happened in depth. The way some were forced to die is too ghastly to dwell upon.

Summary: Great Season One!
Comment: This is perhaps the most compelling and creative series created by HBO. When you are watching it actually feels like you are visiting Ancient Rome. The direction, music and the acting are top notch. All of the actors are outstanding. Probably the most accurate piece ever made on Ancient Rome. This is just not entertainment it is much more than that. The dirty politics, the lifestyles, romance, history, war....Everything is there. This an Unbelievable achievement by HBO. Too bad it was cut too short. Even for its 2 seasons it is well worth buying this series. Highly Recommended!

Summary: Rome I
Comment: Again both Seasons are worth watching for those who are interested in ancient history. The story line is fluid.

Summary: A thrilling season
Comment: Love it!
Fights, plots, characters, everything in this show is very well put to set in flames the story of Rome.

Editorial Reviews:

(HBO Dramatic Series) Four hundred years after the founding of the Republic, Rome is the wealthiest city in the world, a cosmopolitan metropolis of one million people; epicenter of a sprawling empire. The Republic was founded on principles of shared power and fierce personal competition, never allowing one man to seize absolute control. But now, those foundations are crumbling, eaten away by corruption and excess. After eight years of war, two soldiers, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo unwittingly become entwined in the historical events of ancient Rome. A serialized drama of love and betrayal, masters and slaves, husbands and wives, ROME chronicles a turbulent era that saw the death of the republic and the birth of an empire.
