This rod collapses to a good managable size, and is only 4'6" extended (perfect for our use). The problem is this item is described as having "stainless steel guides with smooth ceramic inserts"! It absolutely does not have inserts, ceramic or otherwise!! This was one of the main reasons for buyingShakespeare® Telescoping Spinning Rod this rod over Eagle Claw's "Pack it". Very disapointing as this was bought for specific trip; too late to get something else. Customer Rating: Summary: good but not quite as adverited Comment: this is a good rod but it says it is a med, after using it some i would say it is closer to a light-med. still a good rod and feels like it is strong. is it easy to cast those "little" casts that you need to get around stuff so i do like it.
