Customer Rating: Summary: Satisfied Comment: Canon Pixma MP470 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2177B002)
I purchased the printer for our home office & to print photos...it was easy to set up & seems to work fine. The only downfall I can see now is that it is a bit slow at printing work documents. But other than that it is being used & we like it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Doesn't support Quark Xpress Comment: A word of warning, this is not a postscript printer so Quark Xpress files will not look good printed from it. Colors and photos will be about half their actual value. The only work-around is to make a PDF file and print that.
Customer Rating: Summary: It works !!! Comment: Quick, EZ, simple. Printers are my traditional Nemesis. This one is a joy to have. The "User Friendly" programs are superior.
Customer Rating: Summary: This might be THE one Comment: I've had two Epson printers, and never again! They were slow as molasses to print plain documents, they jammed frequently, they used a lot of ink, and worst, the printer would very often fail for no reason, requiring a rebooting of the computer and a lot of frustration over wasted time. I've had friends report the exact same problems.
Anyway, I just received the Canon Pixma MP 470. I am rating it 4 stars only because I've only had it for 24 hours, but so far, I am in love.
It was amazingly easy to install, and I am not good with hardware.
You do need to connect it with a usb printer cord as suggested as an additional purchase when you order the device. Ink installation was also very easy. The documents print FAST, and both color and b/w are crisp. Scanned documents came out fine. I did not buy this primarily for photo printing, but for document printing at home, and I needed a low profile compact machine because it fits into a niche in my desk. So far, so good!!
Customer Rating: Summary: READ THIS ONE .... Class A all-in-one for little money Comment: It's exactly what is needed for the small office as long as you don't need a fax. Canon always = quality. Small space required even for paper in and prints out, super looking, easy to install and Canon does not want to control your whole PC like HP insists on in order to function. The Canon just works smoothly and VERY quietly. HP insists on loading all kinds of interactive software that slows down a computer system. HP spreads icons everywhere and is just annoying. I'm normally a very calm professional person but, I threw my HP all-in-one across the garage floor after being tortured by issues and support for two years. Glad it's gone!
The down sides of the Canon .... Pay attention to the paper in and out trays for your own preferrences. The HP's high quality photo's seem slightly more detailed than the Canon although I'm not sure why. The Canon basic software for printing set up choice is not as detailed as HP (but it also does not demand control of your whole computer) and it's a little confusing which paper setting to use with other than Canon brand high quality photo papers .... BUT, It is EXACTLY what I needed for my home office.
