Summary: Pass on this cooffeemaker!
Comment: I bought a Cuisinart DCC-1150-BK coffeemaker based on some of the glowing reviews on Amazon, expecting it to be a great purchase. At the time I read the reviews, I brushed aside negative criticisms as petty. This was a mistake.
After making my first pot of coffee in my new machine, it became apparent that there were problems with this machine. The first annoying thing I noticed was how slowly the coffee pours from the thermal carafe, and later, that you have to take the top off of the carafe in order to empty it. This might seem trivial, but it's not, as you will be stuck with this slow pouring carafe for the life of this coffeemaker. After being used to a faster "normal pouring" carafes from previous machines this is not acceptable.
Vital to a great coffeemaker, is the temperature the coffee is brewed at. I found out that the coffee cooled down very quickly in the thermal carafe, and determined that this was because of either an inadequate brewing temperature, or a poorly insulated carafe.
Using a digital thermometer, I measured the temperature of a pot of water from my old Black & Decker Thermal Carafe coffeemaker to compare to the new Cuisinart 1150. The results were that the water from the B&D was 182F and the Cuisinart 167F. There was a 15F difference straight out of the machine - no wonder the coffee from my new coffeemaker cooled down too quickly. The ideal temp. to brew coffee averages out around 185F-200F, depending on the opinion. (Do an online search by typing in "ideal brewing temperature for coffee.") The full flavor is not evident when using this machine IMO, as the brewing temp. is just too low.
The size of the clock face on this machine is tiny. You'd wonder why Cuisinart would install such a cheap component.
You have to be very careful when pouring the water into the reservoir, as the opening is not very large. (There are coffeemakers with reservoirs which swing out to facilitate easy access which would be much handier.)
This machine is overpriced as there are lots of great coffeemakers on the market that can do a better job and cost far less than the Cuisinart 1150.
The bottom line is that there is nothing exceptional about this coffeemaker, and enough faults to make it a poor purchase.

Comment: Cuisinart Coffee Maker is great - keeps coffee warm. Saves on your light bill - shuts off after the coffee is made and keeps in warm in the Thermo coffee holder. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new one.

Summary: Not such hot coffee
Comment: I bought this coffeemaker as a replacement for a Cuisinart 12-cup coffemaker with a thermal carafe (model DTC-975) which no longer worked because the brew start button had become unresponsive. However, it did make fabulous coffee. From the start, this newer model (DCC-1150) has made coffee that is unremarkable and tasteless. In addition, although the carafe on the old model would keep coffee warm for 6-8 hours, the coffee made in this coffeemaker is barely hot immediately after brewing. Upon experimentation, I determined that the old coffeemaker heated the water to 175-180 degrees F and the newer coffeemaker only get to 160-165 degrees. According to research, optimal brew temperature for extraction of the aromatics in coffee is 175-205 degrees F. Using the "1-4 cup" feature on the DCC-1150, which is supposed to "double heat the water, so coffee is piping hot" only increased the water temperature by 1-2 degrees, still well below the minimum temperature required to extract aromatics from the beans. I think I'll see if I can get may old coffeemaker repaired!

Summary: Too complicated
Comment: I just finished putting the water through this coffee maker to clean it before making my first pot of coffee. The filter basket sat filled with hot water, and nothing I could do would make the water finish coming down into the pot. I finally lifted the hot water out with the filter and dumped it. I put the top on the carafe because the instructions said the water would flow through it, but I ended up water all over the counter. So I re-seated the filter like others have suggested, and shook the carafe top and replaced it, too. Now my 2nd pot of hot water came out fine. The instructions tell you how to fold down the paper filter seam so it fits in the coffee filter properly. I supposed now I can train everyone in my family on using this product, but I think I'll just return it. This product is too complicated.

Summary: Broken after 10 days
Comment: I purchased this coffee maker for my parents for Christmas. I was lured by its attractive look, its programmable brew function, and its auto shut-off function. I can't speak in detail to its performance within the ten measly days that it worked (as it was a gift), but I assume it was at least fine. I recall my dad expressing surprise that even with the machine turned off the coffee was still hot after two and a half hours. Until today, the thing did what it was supposed to do - look pretty on my parents' counter, make the coffee, and stay hot for an adequate amount of time. Today, my dad started brewing some coffee, and upon return found that the machine had shut itself off completely, mid-brew. We tried different outlets and it wouldn't even display the time. This machine is now a great-looking paperweight. After reading some of the other negative reviews, I think I'm just going to get my money back and purchase something else. I will post an update on the return process.
