Customer Rating: Summary: easy to setup Comment: the garmin 750 is easy to use and understand the price was way to high,i found the same 750 nuvi at sams club for 198.00 i paid 268.00 it cost me 70.00 dollars more at amzon!
Customer Rating: Summary: Multi-point traveling life saver!!! Comment: I've used a number of GPS over the years, beginning with Garmin's "hand held moving maps" GPS (for pilots) when they first came out...yes they were huge compared to today's models...sort of like the first cell phones. This is my second Nuvi. I loved the first one, even with its quirks and issues was heads above all the other GPS devices I had rented or used. I won't make this a technical review for the 750 since that is well covered by other reviewers. My main motivation for upgrading to the 750 was the multi-point trip routing feature. I have used it to road trip across the country. I have used it to map out complex driving itineraries in town (Miami and other big cities). And I have used it to navigate out of "hopelessly lost" situations in the country, the city, and even an island or two (the US Virgin islands *are* included in the US maps database).
I am a wedding photographer and am often driving (in a big hurry) from unknown location to unknown location on wedding days. Imagine; airport/rental car to my hotel to bride's house (or hotel) to scenic place to religious place to resort/reception place to my hotel... and so it goes. I am generally trying to beat the limo driver from place to place, but am at a significant time disadvantage because I have to gather gear, manage my assistants and other photographers and I sometimes have to wait for a valet to get my car. Now, I have everything pre-programmed into the Nuvi 750 and with the push of a few buttons, I am efficiently on my way to the next destination. My routine used to involve mapping it all out on google maps or mapquest and printing and highlighting and maybe getting there early to drive the route once before the day begins, etc. I still print from google maps as a backup, but it is rare that I need them.
A couple points worth mentioning:
1) I do not use the radio, mp3, photo, or other accessory type features, I have no interest in them and can not comment on them. I use the 750 for its navigation and search features.
2) GPS's in general do require some problem solving skills and common sense. They do occasionally take you to the wrong place, sometimes, it is the fault of the GPS and sometimes it isn't. Case in point; the street address for a yacht marina (where I was to cover a ritzy boat party) brought the nuvi to the gated back service entrance (which was several miles away from the main entrance). The gate guards informed me that the back entrance would not get me to the boat I needed to get to) and they did not have an address for the front entrance. The Nuvi database was not finding the main entrance to the marina, even with a name search. My google maps printout also went to the back entrance. The turn by turn directions from the gate guard's broken English was too complex and unclear. My iphone did find it, and that is how I ultimately got back on track. Frustrating situations like that do happen.. and not always in safe areas. The point of this little story is that it is a good idea to have a back up (no matter what GPS you have), even if that is just someone you can call in a pinch.
My husband tends to think that his Nuvi is fail-safe and he is continually caught off guard when it leads him astray (all the technology in the world is not going to change the fact that most men do not like to ask for directions!) I also carry laminated area maps with me for those cloudy/stormy days when the Nuvi might not have a consistent signal (which doesn't happen often/maybe twice in the past year.. I am always impressed by how strong the signal is despite cloudy/stormy conditions).
From the hazy foggy Pacific Northwest, to the smog filled asphalt valleys of NYC. From the snowy Rocky Mountains to the stormy flat lands of South Florida, the Nuvi 750 has been a stellar little navigator for me. Highly recommended!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great GPS Comment: THis unit is excellent...it has a very good signal and easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone.
Customer Rating: Summary: good basic navigation, but many problems Comment: i've owned the nuvi 750 for 8 or 9 months now. this review is applicable to the 750, 760, 770, and 780.
pros:
(1) once it's locked onto satellites, it is very accurate and stays locked.
(2) it picks good routes most of the time.
(3) the displayed and spoken directions work well.
in general, it implements the basic function of getting you from point A to point B well.
cons:
(1) horrible, horrible user interface when running on battery power and the power gets low. it beeps and fills the screen with a "battery low" message and waits for you to hit OK. this would be just fine if it did it once, but it just keeps doing it about every 10 seconds, no matter how many times you hit OK. the unit becomes very irritating and essentially unusable (since, most of the time, the screen is filled with the "battery low" dialog box). even worse, it goes into this routine LONG before the batteries actually run out, so this stupid behaviour greatly decreases the usable battery life of the unit (and continues to do it with firmware flashed on 11/26/2008).
you might think this doesn't concern you, since you'll keep your unit plugged in, however all of the following have happened to me: walking on foot in cities, driving in a rental vehicle with a non-working cigarette lighter socket, and having the end piece of the garmin car charging cable come unscrewed and get lost.
(2) the built-in database of restaurants, stores, etc. has major problems. i could forgive it being a little out of date, but it often takes me to random places, sometimes even remote deserted areas, where there obviously never has been a restaurant or store of any kind. this is incredibly frustrating, especially when you're in a hurry.
(3) start-up time is way too long. sometimes it feels like it's taking FOREVER to find satellites.
in summary, when it works it's great, but it has some serious design flaws, which would make me think twice about ever buying garmin again.
Customer Rating: Summary: I don't get lost anymore Comment: This product is very easy to use. Right out of the box I was able to put it to use. What I like is it shows the cross streets so you know you are on the right path. Now I am relaxed when I am driving a new route. I know my GPS will alert me when my exit is approaching.

Garmin's nüvi 700 series brings two exciting new features -- multi-destination routing and, "Where am I?/Where's my car?" -- to its popular pocket-sized GPS navigator lineup. As with all nüvis, you get Garmin reliability, the fast satellite lock of an integrated high-sensitivity receiver, a slim, pocket-sized design with a gorgeous display, an easy, intuitive interface, and detailed NAVTEQ maps for the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico with more than 6 million name-searchable points of interest. All of the 700-series navigators also feature a rich array of features including spoken directions in real street names, MP3 player and photo viewer, and an FM transmitter that will play voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your vehicle's stereo system. The nüvi 760 and 770 add integrated traffic receivers and Bluetooth capability for hands-free calling. The nüvi 770 adds maps for Europe. The nüvi 780 adds enhanced MSN direct content capability. Which nüvi is Best for You?: Click here to see a quick, simple comparison of features for all Garmin nuvi GPS navigators Garmin's nüvis pack top of the line features into a slim form factor. | Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen | New Features -- Where Am I? Where's My Car? The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where’s my car?" At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nüvi 700s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount. New Features -- Multi-Destination Routing This lets you enter several spots into the device (day care - supermarket-cleaners - office - day care, for example) and it will plot the fastest route. And once you've found the best router, the "Route Planning" feature lets you save up to 10 different routes, Garmin touts the feature for providing, "the most efficient route for errands, deliveries and sales calls." The feature also makes this an instant essential accessory for anyone who shops garage sales (you know what we're talking about). A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map. See Better, See More The super-bright, 4.3-inch (diagonal) touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push. First Rate Map Data All nüvi 700s come preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (POIs), including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions.
