Customer Rating: Summary: A RIVETING, COMPELLING, INSTANT CLASSIC 8.75 OUT OF 10 Comment: I Am Legend is one of the better films to come out of Hollywood in a while. It's dramatic, compelling, bizarre, and it can be rather suspenseful.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: In 2009, a virus ravaged the world and killed most of the population. There is virtually no one left except for the few people who are immune to the virus. But most of the immune were killed off by the infected. One man; Robert Neville; is the last man in Manhattan. He was a military virologist when the outbreak occurred, now he lives in Manhattan with a German shepherd named Samantha, trying to survive and find a cure for the virus and see if there is anyone else left alive.
MUSIC: The music is good, especially considering the guy who did this film's music also did the music for The Happening.
COMPELLING FACTOR: This film isn't exactly action-oriented, but it is rather great at setting the stage for suspense and dramatic, depressing moments.
ENTERTAINMENT: If you're hoping for an action-packed film you're not going to get one. This film is more focused on story and characters than action. It is a compelling movie that is worthy of a purchase. If you easily get bored of movies, you probably won't like this one, but give it a try.
OVERALL: There were parts of the movie that got boring, that is the main flaw. But the rest of the movie is superbly executed and creates a dramatic, compelling post-apocalyptic world.
THE GOOD: Good storyline, cool action scenes, great characters, and good music.
THE BAD: Boring scenes of nothing.
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointed Comment: I was very disappointed in this movie and I was surprised that Will Smith aggreed to star in it. It lacked credibility and it was not worth the money put into it. I think I overated it by just giving it a star. My impression it was a cheap knock off of resident evil with out as much action.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Legend of a Movie Comment: I Am Legend is a very nice movie full of intense thrills and action. As always Will Smith did a phenomenal job acting. I saw I Am Legend in theaters in Dec. 2007 and I just had to own this DVD.
If you saw this movie in theaters, it's worth picking up this Blu-ray just to see the alternate ending if nothing else.
Customer Rating: Summary: I Am Affordable On Blu-Ray Comment: Great, sharpe clear on blu-ray. In all of New York it seems only one real human is left alive after a deadly virus. Very lucky the last man standing is a Scientist seeking a cure to transform zombies back into humans. The end result is "I Am Legend." Will Smith has the ability to capture your interest in a move from the get go every time making him a legend. He accomplishes this task once again in "I Am Legend." The true legend be told is this movie is a remake of a 1971 B Movie called "The Omega Man," starring Charlton Heston which in return is based on a 1954 novel called, (yep you guessed it) "I Am Legend." Now we have gone full circle, "I Am Legend" 2007 is a dizzy display of so much CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) the film at times seems at best, very good cartoon animation. I'm the first one to agree that CGI special effect have added a great deal to the industry where before only hand made models with extreme limitation existed but CGI has some ways to go to prefect the technology. Some CGI turns out very well as Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park," or "I Robot" another Will Smith film but the CGI in "I Am Legend" is an over done potato, sorry to say. Even so, Smith comes through again making this film worth a view but overall "I Am Legend" is "The Omega Man," on CGI Steroids Couch Potato Review 3 potato 4
Customer Rating: Summary: Great storyline Comment: I bought this HD DVD version as I cannot wait for the Blu Ray version to arrive. Watching this in hidef is definitely a must. This has a great storyline. Will Smith did a great job on this movie. I highly recommend this to anyone, especially the hidef version.

Will Smith stars in the third adaptation of Richard Matheson's classic science-fiction novel about a lone human survivor in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by vampires. This new version somewhat alters Matheson's central hook, i.e., the startling idea that an ordinary man, Robert Neville, spends his days roaming a desolated city and his nights in a house sealed off from longtime neighbors who have become bloodsucking fiends. In the new film, Smith's Neville is a military scientist charged with finding a cure for a virus that turns people into crazed, hairless, flesh-eating zombies. Failing to complete his work in time--and after enduring a personal tragedy--Neville finds himself alone in Manhattan, his natural immunity to the virus keeping him alive. With an expressive German shepherd his only companion, Neville is a hunter-gatherer in sunlight, hiding from the mutants at night in his Washington Square town house and methodically conducting experiments in his ceaseless quest to conquer the disease. The film's first half almost suggests that I Am Legend could be one of the finest movies of 2007. Director Francis Lawrence's extraordinary, computer-generated images of a decaying New York City reveal weeds growing through the cracks of familiar streets that are also overrun by deer and prowled by lions. It's impossible not to be fascinated by such a realistically altered cityscape, reverting to a natural environment, through which Smith moves with a weirdly enviable freedom, offset by his wariness over whatever is lurking in the dark of bank vaults and parking garages. Lawrence and screenwriters Mark Protosevich and Akiva Goldsman wisely build suspense by withholding images of the monsters until a peak scene of horror well into the story. It must be said, however, that the computer-enhanced creatures don't look half as interesting as they might have had the filmmakers adhered more to Matheson's vampire-nightmare vision. I Am Legend is ultimately noteworthy for Smith's remarkable performance as a man so lonely he talks to mannequins in the shops he frequents. The film's latter half goes too far in portraying Smith's Neville as a pitiable man with a messianic mission, but this lapse into bathos does nothing to take away from the visual and dramatic accomplishments of its first hour. --Tom Keogh
