Customer Rating: Summary: Great computer for low price Comment: eMachines is a great computer for a low price. It worked perfectly out of the box, and Windows Vista (which works far better now than when I uninstalled it after release) is a pleasure. Nice sound system, burns DVDs, fast.
If you want a new computer at a great price, this one is ideal. My father in law got it too and is similarly delighted. Customer Rating: Summary: Don't plan on upgrading Comment: This PC may be sufficient for someone who wants a basic machine and doesn't intend to mess with it. But don't buy it if you're planning any upgrades. For example, the SATA cables weren't meant to be detached from the motherboard. Remove them and you may damage the motherboard, the hard drive, or both. Plus good luck in reattaching them. Also, the one spare power supply connector wouldn't reach to the IDE slave drive I wanted to install. I'm planning to buy a Compaq and use the eMachines for parts. I should have known better. After only a few years, my previous eMachines died suddenly of an apparent hardware failure. I'm also using it for parts.
