Customer Rating: Summary: Attn: Basic cable viewers Comment: I liked this movie, but I had never seen it on HBO so I didn't know how much sex there really was in the city. If you like the series on basic cable and you're an adult, go for it, but be prepared for some soft core porn.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bummer in the City Comment: Having enjoyed the television series, I was afraid, from all the hype, that the movie would be a big disappointment. Well, I couldn't have been more right. The thing that makes the TV series work is that the friendship among the women is stronger than anything else; all the superficial stuff is just icing. In the movie, the strongest thing is the massive assault of designer label product placement; it's all superficial stuff and nothing else. It's like one long, annoying commercial. And by the way, the movie is all Carrie all the time; Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha -- far more interesting characters -- have almost nothing to do. The men are beyond an afterthought. The movie is also bizarrely, gratuitously crass. I almost walked out of the theatre. Beyond a dud, this movie is offensive to human intelligence. I hear they're making another.... yikes.
Customer Rating: Summary: The more things change the more they stay the same Comment: I finally watched this movie as a rental and liked it surprisingly better than I expected.
I liked it enough to buy it used from Blockbuster for $10, if that says anything...
It's long. And parts of it are a little corny, but the kind of corny that serious fans of the show will be able to overlook without a second thought. It seemed to me that a few of the actors have had some face work done. It looks tacky but when they're dressed like a million bucks, who really cares.
Girlfriends who drop their lives on a moment's notice to fly with you to Mexico don't really exist, and wouldn't we all love to live like Samantha Jones and have the freedom to jet back and forth every other weekend from LA to NYC?? But see, that's the point. You gotta watch the movie knowing it's all about fun and not much about reality.
In the end I guess that's why it's so darn satisfying...
and keeps us always wanting for more.
At the very least, my Carrie craving has been satiated for at least another two years... when they finally come out with another sequel!
Customer Rating: Summary: I want more Sex and The City Comment: Just a little consumers point of view about this movie: Everyone was dying to know what happened to Big and Carrie, how was life for Miranda after her moving, what went on with Samantha and her relationship that was really lasting and, of course, what happended to our beloved well educated Charlotte.
I believe the end of this series left a void for women, women who where finally seeing their inner voices speaking back at them from the TV set. It was amazing how friends gather around to do what a lot of people called the Sex and City therapy sessions. Everything was there: 4 women daring to speak on behalf of millions and giving men a clue on what's really going on inside a woman's head when it comes to sex.
You must purchase this movie or your collection wont be complete!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun as usual Comment: The SITC movie was vintage; good to see the girls again and the next generation. If you are not a fan, don't get it; if you are, you will find it is as good as a long running TV show.
