Summary: Issues with McAfee
Comment: I had McAfee before and bought this for renewal.Few issues that I have noted so far are
1.It keeps popping up a message asking to activate and even though I try to activate it does not activate.
2.Recently there was a trojan attack on my computer and McAfee did not even detect the virus leave alone repairing it. I downloaded tools from McAfee and that too was not of any help.Then I downloaded MalwareBytes and that rectified the issue.

Summary: AOL 9.1 incompatibility issues
Comment: AOL 9.1 users beware. There is a compatibility issue between AOL 9.1 and the McAfee Total Protection 2009 and you would not be able to run AOL 9.1 after installing this program. I use McAfee total protection 2008 and had no problem with the older version. The problem was related to the SystemGuard services in the McAfee program. You could disable this service and AOL 9.1 would run. But then you are not getting the full protection for your PC. I contacted on-line support and they recommended to add the AOL IP address to the trusted network. This workaround does not work neither.
The only workaround that seems to work is to go back to AOL 9.0 which I verified with no problem. I do not expect either AOL or McAfee are coming up with a fix for this problem in the near-future.

Comment: WARNING -- McAfee VirusScan does not work with Internet Explorer 8. I bounght this product and found the product would not work on my computer. McAfee customer support did not help with the problem. After doing independant researh I discovered VirusScan was incompatible with the Imternet Explorer8 which was running on my Vista operating system. After I uninstalled IE 8 and reinstalled IE 7 on my computer everyting worked fine. This was a process that requires a medium level of computer knowledge. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT UNTIL MCAFEE FIXES IT TO WORK WITH IE 8.

Comment: Amazon had this for $29.99 in a gold box special and it isn't even worth that. If you want the most bang for your buck in virus protection, stick with Norton. McAfee can't hold a candle to it.

Summary: Virus, trojan, worm protection
Comment: I wasn't satisfied with my original Protection software and decided to use McAfee Total Protection(3 user pkg). I installed it on my daughters, wifes and my machines. EZ installation, no conflicts, alerts to any malware in Emails or websites, full scans the systems quickly. (I/we have 2 Vista 64 and 1 XP 32 opsystem machines) I am very satisfied with the performance of McAfee Total Protection software.
